• • “PN10”: Nominal pressure rating of 10 bar (roughly). That’s the maximum working pressure under stated conditions. Ensure that your system pressure stays below this.

  • “BS3464”: Indicates this is a cast iron industrial pattern gate valve standardised for water/works applications, giving some confidence in manufacturing tolerances, design, etc.

  • “Industrial Pattern”: Suggests a heavier duty design compared to general service; may imply cast iron body, wedge gate design (vs resilient seated or other types).

  • “Wedge Gate Valve”: The gate inside is a wedge shape (or solid wedge) which when lowered closes the valve. Good for on/off (isolation) duty rather than throttling.
